Efforts toward reduction of the environmental burden in terms of the management and operation of vending machines

Vehicle initiatives

DyDo DRINCO conducts business with the aim of reducing our environmental impact, including through the introduction of hybrid vehicles, not only for those used by sales representatives who identify and coordinate locations for vending machines, but also the trucks of drivers on those routes (“route cars”) who are responsible for refilling vending machines and maintaining the environment at those locations.

We are striving toestablish a smart operation structure to maintain the industry’s leading network of vending machines, even in an environment where labor is in short supply through the development and application of IoT for these machines. This structure will optimize routes for vending machine operations, while simultaneously reducing carbon dioxide emitted from these operations.

White Logistics Movement

Recently, the circumstances surrounding logistics have become more severe as shown in, for example, the shortage of truck drivers. Reducing CO2 emissions and other efforts toward reduction of the environmental burden are absolutely necessary.

Agreeing with the aims of the White Logistics Movement promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, we have submitted our declaration of voluntary action so as to achieve a sustainable logistics environment.

We will continue to increase our efforts to achieve sustainable logistics through, for example, extension of the purchase-order lead time and a modal shift to sea and rail.

Category of efforts Details
Proposal and cooperation for improvement in logistics

・When receiving requests from our clients and logistics companies in terms of, for example, the reduction of detention time and manual unloading by drivers, and the streamlining of incidental tasks, we sincerely consult with the clients/logistics companies and make proposals in an active manner.

Lead-time extension

・We make arrangements to ensure sufficient lead time by promoting a 48-hour order lead time as a shipper.

Modal shift to sea and rail

・For long-distance transport, we carry out a changeover from trucks to ferries, roll-on/roll-off ships and trains. On that occasion, we perform the required reviews of the details of the transport and cost allocation.

Production planning and optimization of logistics bases

・We endeavor to reduce long-distance transport by achieving local production for local consumption.

Explanation of the White Logistics Movement

This movement aims to help the economy grow while ensuring the stability of logistics necessary for people’s lives and industrial activities under circumstances where the shortage of truck drivers has become even more severe. Through the improvement of productivity in road transport and the increase in the efficiency of logistics, efforts are being made to realize a “whiter” and friendlier working environment, especially for women and drivers in their 60s and older.
